All that hard work has payed off! This is why us Moonlighters can't give up!
THE SKINNY: At the tail end of this winter’s television critic’s event, Rob Thomas, who has resurrected his 1998 TV series CUPID for another go-around on ABC, announced that he’s currently working on a VERONICA MARS feature film (based on his short-lived UPN/CW show), now that his new series order has been reduced from thirteen episodes to eight episodes.
"That means I have time to write the VERONICA MARS movie," he says. "But my writing the movie is half the battle. Someone else has to pay for it. Joel Silver does have a certain pile of money. He called on me saying ‘Can we do this now?’ Kristen wants to do it. Joel wants to do it and I want to do it. For me, that’s the next project."
Although he wouldn’t reveal exactly what the story would be, he did tell iF, "it’s 70 percent broken in my head."
"I’ve been struggling with this one plot point and I’m hopeful to figure that out," he adds. "I watched the final episode of the series a few weeks ago and there were a lot of gaps and the plotting for the original came to me. I mean for the movie, I’m feeling like I’m on the right track now. But I don’t want to give that away yet.
In terms of cast, Thomas says he’s talked with Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni and Kristen Bell.
"Obviously," he says with a smile.
And while there were always talks of the character of Veronica Mars ending up at the F.B.I., he says that’s not where the movie will be heading.
"The one thing that I will say is where it will pick up," says Thomas. "I know we did that F.B.I. ‘what if’ thing, but we would not go to that place. I think it would open just days before the Hearst College Graduation. So Veronica would be sort of at the end of her college career.

| It's always nice to see that at least someone out there agrees... In the 'Year in Cheers & Jeers' .... "Cheers to True Blood for putting some bite back into HBO's anemic lineup. The graphically addictive Southern-gothic vampire mystery/love story about a mind-reading waitress and a Civil War-era blood-guzzler rode a wave of vampire chic led by "Twilight"- though Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels came first. Is CBS kicking itself for putting a premature stake in MOONLIGHT?" Any mention of Moonlight is good mention, especially when mentioned with "Twilight" & "True Blood". I know we all couldn't agree more... |

Subtitles will be in English, Spanish, French and Thai. No bonus material has been indicatedas of yet. Cost will be $39.98. Here is the studio description, and the package art:
Any private eye knows a lot about other people's secrets. L.A. private eye Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) has a secret of his own. He's a vampire, dwelling in a covert netherworld complicated by friendship with an undead finance honcho (Jason Dohring), memories of the alluring ex- wife (Shannyn Sossamon) who turned him into a vampire, and a relationship with a human (Sophia Myles) he feels drawn to protect - and maybe to love. But no matter how tempting, Mick knows a vampire-human romance is eternally dangerous. This 16-episode, 4-disc set of the series voted the 2008 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama is a sure entertainment bet for all who like their vampire stories sleek, intense and passionate.

From the MLA -
We were having major server issues, that have now luckily been resolved.
There's been a lot of craziness going on in the fandom and things need to settle down and we need to reorganize and rebuild. So as soon as that's taken care of we will go full swing back into the MOVIE campaign! We just need to get some things worked out, like where we are headed with the campaign etc.

| Hey there fellow freshies, the fight for Moonlight is still going strong, but we need your support! At this past Thursday's campaign chat we came up with the first of many plans to approach from the business end of things. We need to go at it in terms they understand - money, and how ML can be valuable to them. So if you're tired of doing the 'same old' and want to check out a fresh new idea, please check out this post. http://www. moonlightarmy. com/core/viewtopic. php?f=8&t=849 If you want to help out and are not a member of the MLA board, you can also send me a message here. After taking a night to sleep on it, I wanted to share my thoughts with you as to the fate of our beloved show. I'm not going to dissect every part of the blog. Everyone's different, that's what makes the world fun, so everyone will take what they want from Al's blog and run with it. We've spent a ridiculous amount of time, money & energy on this campaign and if you've decided to bow out gracefully at this juncture you won't get any crap from me. I, however, choose to fight on. Maybe even harder now because I truly believe we will see the show again. As for a second season, we may be staked for now but you have to remember stakes only take our vamps down temporarily! So although Mick & Co. will be 'resting' for now, I will not and if you want to know why, read on...
Hollywood is volatile and everything can change in the blink of an eye, we know that better than anyone else! I don't think it's unreasonable at all to fight for a DVD release, or to keep the faith that it could come back to TV. There are so so many examples of shows that have done this. Farscape & Firefly for example, both cancelled and over a year later DVD movies came out (and there's Buzz about a Firefly sequel). Then you've got shows like Family Guy, brought back from cancellation after DVD sales went through the roof.
That's one of the things that will have to happen here. When those Season One DVD's come out, they are going to have to fly off the shelves. We've talked so much about our disposable income, we are going to need to put our money where our mouth is. I think that is truly going to be the deciding factor, because sadly, it is all about the money. I feel that if we can prove ourselves on that front it will go a long way. Plus, as I mentioned
on the radio show awhile back, we know Silver has a contract to produce direct-to-DVD movies for Warner, which could definitely work in our favor. Things on the TV front are not looking very good for fall, with several shows already being doomed by critics for one reason or another. I think there is a good chance that if new shows are tanking, DVD sales are crazy, and the cast is available it could be brought back to TV at a later time. Add in all the vampy-goodness about to hit with the "Twilight" & "Dark Shadows" movies as well as the new "Tru Blood" series and you've got yourself an even bigger fanbase hungry for more.
Right now we all need to take a nice deep breath, then reorganize, regroup and make the push for a DVD. We'll be having another campaign chat tomorrow night at 9/8c and everyone who still wants to press on is more than welcome to join us. No matter what happens, we'll always have each other and that's the best!
Yours in Vampire Solidarity,
Nikki
